Laser Resurfacing
Lasers emit beams of light that are absorbed by various molecules in the skin, called chromophores. The chromophores absorb the light and convert it into thermal (heat) energy, which then stimulates the skin’s healing process. Each laser targets a specific chromophore, resulting in unique skin and hair changes such as destruction of blood vessels (reducing redness), reduction in melanocytes (minimizing hyperpigmentation), and damage to hair follicles (progressive hair loss). Interestingly, at certain settings, lasers can actually stimulate hair follicles (resulting in hair growth).
