Temporary dermal fillers are composed of hyaluronic acid, which is a naturally occurring sugar that exists in the extracellular matrix of human tissue. Hyaluronic Acid Fillers are manufactured as sterile, biodegradable, non-pyrogenic, viscoelastic, clear and colorless gel implants. They works by pulling in water, which smooths away fine lines and wrinkles and restores volume. Results can last up to 2 years. Hyaluronic acid fillers are safe and effective, but if there are complications related to the injection such as asymmetry or vascular compromise, it can be dissolved with hyaluronidase, an enzyme that breaks down hyaluronic acid.
